thought ... I'm thinking that isn't really "meant" to be consumed by simple aggregator tools (subscribe to some channels, see new blurbs all lumped together). It's really meant to be processed in a richer way by big tools. Which makes it ironic that and don't use it.

[Russ Lipton] covers similar territory within his essay. I think he understates the "information management" challenge of managing hundreds of subscriptions. Though I bet you could do some really crude work that would give semi-satisfying results.


i agree that rss isn't meant to be consumed by simple aggregator tools, but instead could be evolved into something approaching a distributed publishing environment that really gets closer to a true . wrote about this about a year ago in "the next usenet." http://www.theobvious.com/archive.html?030201 --
