Here's an article from [Projects At Work] about Distributed Project Management Software. Because use of the programs enables project leaders to distribute tasks to dispersed team members, a certain element of trust must be present--trust that the other team members will perform. In fact, Johnson says distributed project management can be thought of as "trust management."
