It can't be a coincidence that West Wing has had a significant event attached to a Catholic charity fundraiser right when things are ugly. But if there was any explicit mention of the issue, I missed it. Which would make it a weird subliminal message of sorts...
Coincidentally, [Martin Sheen] IsA practicing Cathol Ic. It was due in part to Sheen's constant hectoring - and the influence of JFK - that Bartlet wound up a practicing Catholic. "I really fought them on this," Sheen says. "I felt passionately that the president needed a moral framework from which to make his decisions." Uh, a Religious Cult isn't the only basis for a moral framework, putz.
