Is the Echo Standards process stalled? Liz Lawley suspects Perhaps the real problem is that the nature of WiKi-s is in opposition with the idea of "final closure" in a voting process? You can see in this process just how problematic the whole idea of "final" is. In fact, I suspect that all of the things that made the wiki a good environment for starting this project will end up being why it's not a good environment for finishing it. Wikis aren't about finishing. I mostly disagree with that point. A wiki can encourage poor process, since a page/issue is never closed/locked (although using something like a Zwiki Tracker can support this). But ultimately it's all about the people, people. I think an Email List or a group blog supports even more tail-chasing, myself. I wonder whether the real problem is that there wasn't a pressing benefit to create in the first place? Then again, maybe everyone's just too impatient (though the naming process has been terribly broken).
