Glenn Reynolds on UN ([World Summit On The Information Society]/WSIS) discussions over control of the Inter Net, which were thankfully shelved for the moment. He points out World Government's hatred of Free Speech: Reporters Without Borders was banned from the conference, which followed the organisation's suspension for a year from the UN Commission on Human Rights at the request of regimes that are the worst press freedom (Free Press) violators because it energetically condemned the absurd choice of a Libyan representative as the commission's chairperson.
Reporters Without Borders set up a [Pirate Radio] station to cover the conference. They were forced to shut down.
Dana Blankenhorn is doing a good job of ranting about the Summit.
Oct'2004 update: Bruce Sterling is suddenly interested in this thing. But thinks it's a good group.
