Seb Paquet points to [Eva Kaplan Leiserson]'s piece on Social Software noting theories of why its gaining Critical Mass now. A third theory, described by the founders of online interaction consultancy [Head Shift], is that people are searching for a feeling of community that's been lost as many Third Place-s (not work, not home, but a third place where people congregate and interact) have closed down.
