Having shut down public append-rights to this WikiLog because of Comment Spam, I was just thinking that it would be cool for those old public Discussion Forum sites to encourage a model where every blog posting can generate a thread on their server. Seeing Howard Rheingold complain about Blog Comment systems reinforces that idea.
May13: hmm, I wonder whether UseNet could be used this way? Just pick a group, and create a new thread for each posting. You could use GooGle as the interface, but people would have other options. (An advantage of GooGle is that they keep all the archives, whereas most NNTP servers dump UseNet threads past a certain age... hmm, I wonder whether the Wayback Machine offers an alternative, at least for reading...)
