CookIng note Of The Day: was feeling cranky late last week, and after considering pitiful alternatives like going to the gym (perhaps I'll cultivate [Nero Wolfe]-ish gravitas), decided to cook a decent meal. Had bought some [NJ] bison steak at the Union Square Farmers Market, but JiHi doesn't love "gamey" tasting meat, so I decided to disguise it. Took the meat, some baby carrots, a couple sliced onions, dumped them in a saucepan with roughly 1/3 salsa and 2/3 beer, cooked low for a couple hours (as it reduced, I added more beer as a water-substitute). Roasted asparagus and sauteed squash blossoms on the side, plus a green salad. Plus a beer, of course. To maximize conversion to fat, ate at 10:30pm. Could feel the difference in my buoyancy the next day at someone's pool. :)
