Clay Shirky on the horrors of Web Browser/Thin Client/Text Area as a writing environment. He makes 3 specific feature requests, and the comments from others have some useful bits.
Update: further discussion on the [Auto Save] request. I do a lot of writing on planes, and if I can neither save to [MT] in draft form (no connectivity) nor leave the browser open (no battery). (In other places, he notes a desire to also edit wiki and post comments, neither of which seems to apply to the airplane scenario.)
Update: much-later rantings by Adam Rifkin and Jon Udell. Do we really want a fancy plugin that saves at XML? What happens in a MobIle environment or other super-lite editor? I'd pitch for sticking with Smart Ascii....
