Robert Scoble slams a fellow Micro Soft employee for building a lame marketing website with no RSS (among other flaws). If you don't have RSS, how will anyone who is a connector build a relationship with your site?... Sorry, if you do a marketing site and you don't have an RSS feed today you should be fired.
Michael Gartenberg and [Eric Peterson] disagree.
I would say:
if you're spending $100 for a static 3-page site, then you don't need RSS.
if you have a product with no hope of consumer Engage Ment, then you don't need RSS. You probably don't need a website at all. But why is anyone buying your product?
(later) maybe it's not about engagement, but just about informing (in either direction)
but if you want that, then you have to embrace the Products Are Conversations mentality, and thus your website probably needs some stream of flow, and thus you need RSS.
