Quiet Care got a nice mention in [The Economist] in the quarterly tech supplement. Living Independently, a firm based in New York, last year began selling a similar system, called Quiet Care, the development of which was funded in part by America's National Institute's of Health and Ageing. It too combines motion detectors with a secure website where customers can check activity. But the system is also backed up by ADT Security Services, a home-security firm. ADT is told what patterns of activity - or lack of activity - should trigger particular pre-determined responses, such ascalling for an emergency doctor.
