A UbiComp manifesto. People equipped with a modest, affordable set of technologies travel throughout their day inside a kind of invisible "information field" ([Thomas Vander Wal] has called this the personal infocloud). This field or cloud is created by a constant, seamless, automated collaboration between: the digital devices (MobIle) people carry, such laptops, media players, and camera phones; the wireless (WiFi) and wireline networks that serve their various locations as they move about; the global Inter Net and its growing store of socially-generated knowledge and Web-based, on-demand social applications (Social Software).
