Our office connectivity is a real mess today. It's always safe to start by blaming Verizon DSL. But I see something really weird

if we tracert to someone, we see 3000ms delays at each hop, all the way. Which makes it seem like there's some nation-wide problem out there.
but if I SSH into one of our servers at Rack Space (in VA), and do a traceroute, I don't see those same kind of delays at all!

How can Verizon affect the response I seem to see between 2 YaHoo routers? (If you know, email me.)
