on [Tony Hammond]'s efforts to manage eternal digital -s... super--s designed to survive commercial churn and to work reliably for hundreds of years.

An update notes our main topic of discussion - the [DOI] (digital object identifier) system - is one implementation of the [CNRI] (Corporation for National Research Initiatives) [Handle System] but there are others, including [DSpace].
