Les Orchard thinks that TwittEr needs tags.

might be a challenge to include in 140chars
though Wiki Word As Tag approach might help
but how much in TwittEr is worth saving/finding?
- do you want it saved forever? I guess in a Transparent Society everything is at risk of re-appearing. In a different ConText, which is a problem.
- how long do they keep old messages?

Chris Messina supports the # identifier, and discusses various Group Forming models. There's a thread specific to the idea of group-list-limiting.

Stowe Boyd has been using that model. I find it really irritating to read.

Sept update: TwittEr now supporting tracking of phrases. Just free-text exact matches, I guess. So EastVillage and East Village are 2 separate terms...
