I've been suddenly getting this problem on my IBook, where the right side of the menu-bar (clock, WiFi info, etc.) freezes up. Yes, I'm still running Panther. That thread makes some IPod references. I have an IPod, but haven't connected it to the Mac in months. But maybe I'll run more system updates related to that anyway...
I notice when I run top that lookupd is using up some chunk (~10%) of processor time, even when I'm not doing anything. I wonder if I need this app?
Aug4 update: I've installed all the system updates. Problem not gone. And haven't done any roaming anywhere, so it's not related to running into any weird WiFi stuff...
