on why is changing its stock symbol to JAVA.

thinks that is obsolete (and thus not a great corporate move). In fact, I'd say that many of today's current hot trends in programming are a direct result of a backlash against everything that Java has come to represent. (And he thinks the recent interest in is driven by seeking a replacement for complex business logic.)

is even more pessimistic. He thinks the cultural factors that Russell mentions mean that can't/won't be saved. And thinks that Schwartz's move will accelerate Java's demise.
