The concept of an "[Author Platform]" seems driven by the desire of people to let authors do their own () , or even moreso to have an existing level of success as defined by size. Which seems like having one less reason to deal with a publisher in the first place... (creating more of an opportunity for to take on that role in the print-book format/channel).
