Was it who started using the [HashTag] convention in ?

It's being used by [TWemes] and [Twitter Notes]. But I don't really think usage has spread that far yet.

But has gone to the dark side with [Mind Traffic Control] support for them.

I, of course, prefer . I really hate inline punctuation (which is why I prefer over line-noise like and ).

I had another thought: for such short-form items like items and [Micro Blog] entries, what if you just indexed initial-cap words, even if single words? That way you could use when you wanted, and not worry about making bogus mid-cap selections for single words (e.g. ).
