Stowe Boyd sees the need for a Social Blogging platform with a greater emphasis on Flow State. I Commented to query about what's really needed beyond RSS and an Identity Hub like Friend Feed.
update: he replied I am talking about a world where the posts themselves are unfettered, just big fat comments floating in the conversation matrix. And RSS as conceived at this point ain't it. This smells like the old Blog Thread/Track Back problem.
His follow-up post notes that Rss Aggregator-s tend to focus on source-channels rather than conversations/threads as the key object. Of course, a reader doesn't have to be limited to that interface style. But there is some question as to whether there's a particular good way to model Blog Thread-s in RSS (maybe a per-item parent-url?). He shows lots of mock-ups he did last year for particular User Stories. See also z2007-01-24- Boyd Ibm Connections z2003-11-12- Boyd In Context Collaboration
