John Mc Cain picked Sarah Palin as his Vice President candidate.

Some say it was a last-minute switch when conservatives wouldn't allow him to pick Joseph Lieberman. (This says that Karl Rove scuttled Lieberman to get Mitt Romney into the job.) Some say that if she continues to be an embarrassment, it will give him an excuse to go back to Lieberman.
