Wow, [BestBuy] has the EeePc (900a) NetBook for $299! (Looks like [TarGet] has it too.) So tempting, but I can't really think of a time when I'd carry this instead of my MacBook....

(This weighs 2.2lbs, MacBook weights 4.5lbs, OLPC weights 3.2lbs.)

Related: Dave Winer just bought an [MsiWind], which weighs 2.6lbs, and gives you a hard drive and lasts 6hrs.

Hmm, the EeePc 900 series has had some battery controvery, but battery life doesn't sound any better than the [MSI], though that could be reality-vs-fake-spec issues....
Update: Dave sent the [MSI] back. He's sticking with the EeePc 1000H which costs ~$500.
It sounds like others are having issues.

Dec update: I'm tempted to get the 900a for xmas (the price at [BestBuy] is down to $280). But honestly I'm not sure how much I would use it. I'd say JiHi could share it, but I don't think she'd be happy living without MsWord.
