have been studying piano for a couple years with a Yamaha electronic ([DGX]-203). It's touch-sensitive, and the sound is good, but the keys aren't really weighted. We're considering getting something that feels a little closer to an acoustic.

I think we're willing to give up most of the other voices (would like to still have some standard keyboard voices, like organ, [Fender Rhodes], etc. but would give up the others) and all the other electronic features.

The Yamaha [YPG]-635 runs $800 and seems reasonable, but still in the table-top family.

[SamAsh] sells a lot of the [YDP]-223 ($1600) and [YDP]-140 ($1000) digital pianos, which have the built-in 3-pedal foot, etc.

Conclusion: no big purchase like this until our finances are more in-order.
