Boy, it's hard doing historical research on the Web (e.g. find any news about Moody's Credit Rating-s of Enron debt from Jan1'00 to Sept1'01) via Search Engine. Google and All The Web let you restrict the date range, but only on the "from" end (all searches run through the current date). AltaVista lets you control both ends, but I suspect their coverage depth.
Also, it's scary how many older documents are either gone completely or moved into for-pay archives (Invisible Content). Heh, sometime's Google's cache gets around that (which makes them ripe for a Copy Right infringement lawsuit). This increases my interest in a Personal Web Archive to cache all articles I blog...
