Paul Snively on ReST vs XmlRpc. What's interesting to me about the discussion is that it basically boils down to an imperative view of web services (the RPC bunch) vs. a functional view (the ReST bunch)...If you do take ReST seriously, and in particular the notion of typed resources seriously, I would argue that Prescod is correct: it should be used so that all of the emerging technologies such as XSLT, RDF, etc. can be applied to the resources as needed or desired. You can't do that with XML-RPC or SOAP.
