Paolo Valdemarin is trying to do shared Instant Outlining, to make ProjectOutlines. The next hurdle after that will be the inability to attach structured data (e.g. dueDate) to an outline row. InfoDepot actually got to a point where you could share an outline over a LAN, and it did row-level locking (in addition to supporting multiple structured columns of data); damn I miss that product (and the original Py Ra, and my unborn Project Flux).
