Ray Ozzie argues that we'll move from dumb browsers to Rich Client apps, and this implies a need for real operating system, vs a relatively dumb PDA. The Great Conversion to notebook computers is well under way, and it's now clear that the most wildly successful wireless mobile productivity device won't be the 3G phone, or even the Blackberry, but the ubiquitous and inexpensive WiFi notebook. I'm not sure I fully agree, as I think size, battery life, and cost will continue to favor the PDA form factor. But products like the Sharp Zaurus will blur the lines...
