(2002-10-01) Groove Inspiration
Good look back by Ray Ozzie to his early days of inspiration in starting Groove. Upon further analysis, this relentless drive toward eMail (in Lotus Notes usage) caused me to question the fundamentals of centralized, application server-based architectures as the basis for effective dynamic collaboration. And link to "Market Opportunity" document. The Goal: Define a new class of software known as "PairWare". If "GroupWare" was the term given to software intended for group empowerment within structured organizations, "pairware" will be the term given to software intended for personal empowerment in the context of ad hoc relationships or tasks. I think AdHoc Group Forming is great for handling the access control issues of Overlapping Scopes Of Collaboration, but not the associated Context.
