(2002-11-20) Ms Office Xml

Jon Udell on MsOffice (v11) finally getting some real XML support. I wonder (a) whether the XML/XSLT will be "clean" (compared to the HTML now generated by MsWord), and (b) whether MsOffice will nicely consume XML produced by other applications (e.g. Star Office, OpenOffice). But I'd guessing I'd need WinXP to find out, so I may never know (given my hopes to avoid the WinXP licensing nightmare).

More fuzzily, I can't help but feel like MsWord and other word processing apps are almost obsolete (other than in situations where "formal" "packaging" is important), given their inherent focus on large self-contained single documents, rather than a web of smaller pieces (e.g. Wiki).
