AndyEdmonds has some code that will show you updated blogs (based on their pinging weblogs.com) in your Mozilla sidebar.

RSS readers should be checking weblogs.com before re-reading a site's RSS feed, to improve scalability. (I wonder what % of blogs with RSS also ping WeblogsCom?)
