(2003-04-08) Permanent Urls

Jon Udell (with Dave Winer) on the implied Social Contract of permanent URL space. Is a permanent record possible? The Internet Archive suggests that it is. In 1995 I didn't believe that search engines would be able to keep up with the Web. Today I can't imagine that the Internet Archive - or its successor - won't. I wonder whether individuals' Personal Web Archive might play a significant role as well? There's definitely some logic to keeping a copy of anything you point to in a WebLog. Fair Use if others can read that copy? As long as Google doesn't index it, maybe?
