(2003-04-19) Shell Zwiki
Jeffrey P Shell compares the Zwiki code structures for Zope v2 and v3. In any case, it's interesting to compare the 'ZWiki Page' class from Zwiki for Zope 2 - with 10 direct superclasses - to the 'Wiki Page' class from Zwiki for Zope 3, with only one direct superclass (Persistent)... So, with all of that touched on, what are some of the downsides to Zope 3 development? Well, there's the configuration language, ZCML. Hmm, what's this equivalent to in other languages/environments?
He also expresses his frustration with the content of many wikis. Hmmm, try going through a blog's archives to find coherent information? But it is a valid criticism, even in a 1-writer wiki. (I hope the combination of a WikiEngine with good renaming features and an OutLining Rich Client will lead to some improvements.)
