(2003-05-29) Microsoft Settles Aol

  • free use of MsIE for 7 years. No more future for Mozilla on AOL?

  • cooperation between 2 Instant Messaging networks. (If AOL can InterOp with MSN, why can't they interop with others?)

  • Rob Enderle says Microsoft turns what had become an aggravating enemy into at least a marginal friend and possibly a cooperative partner. AOL gets much-needed cash and are able to divest themselves of units that were costing them money like the Netscape unit. Uh, what does this mean?

    • here's more explicit quoting of Enderle
