(2003-10-12) Udell Browser Document Processor

Jon Udell on the Web Browser (esp Mozilla) as structured document processor. But as Web Services redefine documents, Mozilla, an open and extensible document-handling engine, looks more strategic than ever. But calling it an "engine" means you have to think of it like a development toolkit, and the problem is that Mozilla is designed as a self-contained environment, meaning that you seem to be mainly stuck writing JavaScript. Blech. (But if anyone can figure out how to use its bits in a more heterogeneous way, it's Jon.)

What about the XUL platform hook, that for example Newsmonster latches onto....
