(2004-04-13) Jones Rss Vs Email
MarkJones re-opens the idea of RSS as a replacement for EMail. (Universal Inbox) Some random starts of a thought...
-
An RSS feed/channel can be thought to represent the intersection of a relationship and a Context.
-
Obviously, if you don't already have a relationship with someone, they're not going to be subscribed to some channel of messages from you. (This is the good part re SpamWars.)
-
But, if everything about that relationship spews throught the same channel, then it gets confusing.
Hmm, does it make sense to think of juggling many thousands of RSS channels? Or does the concept of channel go away, and it's up to the recipient to filter/categorize the soup? And does it matter whether items are originated from within the Intranet or outside?
