(2004-08-17) Lombardi Experience Design History

Victor Lombardi on the history of design and the Experience Economy. We all want to invent Punk Rock, and it's a little humbling when we realize we're just repeating what Michael Thonet did 140 years ago.

Perhaps a bigger (or just different) issue is whether Experience Design's mentality is one of reinforcing the passive Consumer's role, and whether this is going to be successful (or desirable) as time passes.
