(2004-11-24) Readers Rejecting Newspapers

The Washington Post did a series of Focus Group-s with people age-under-45 in the Washington DC area who had cancelled their subscription or never had one. Many of these people said they wouldn't want a print subscription, even if it were free. They prefer to read online (which is free), and they don't want to waste paper (Environmentalism). But these aren't just Slacker browsers: they also recommended run fewer pictures... provide more coverage of the constitution of the European Union... expand all of its foreign news briefs into full-fledged stories.
