(2005-12-28) Friedman Public Schools Vs First Amendment

David Friedman says that Public Schools are inherently against the First Amendment - they can't have a Neutral Point Of View about Religion. My conclusion is that the existence of Public Schools is inconsistent with the First Amendment. Their purpose is, or ought to be, to educate - and one cannot, in practice, educate without either supporting or denying a wide variety of religious claims.

Note that a group representing religious schools in California is suing the University Of California system. At issue, the question of whether creationist (Creationism) courses in high school are counted as science credit for college admissions.
