The line of Dooms Day succession at the Pentagon has been changed: it moves to near the top three undersecretaries who are Donald Rumsfeld loyalists and who previously worked for Vice President Dick Cheney when he was defense secretary

David Brin sees this as another example of competent Professional people being pushed out of the defense/intelligence area by the Political Arm.
