Arthur Mag has an interview with John Sinclair of MC5 about how (non-arena) Live Performance events used to open to people of All Ages. But then when the Drinking Age was lowered, bars became a venue that could pull in college-age kids, and be much more profitable, so bars became the primary small-event venue, locking out younger kids from Live Performance.
