(2006-11-01) Vinoski Amqp
Steve Vinoski has an article out about AMQP. He's also involved in the Q Pid implementation project. AMQP is a binary protocol.... Given that several of my previous columns have discussed the role of dynamic languages in middleware, it's worth noting that the Python and Ruby AMQP bindings allow for significant source code brevity. By their very nature, these languages support rapid prototyping, allowing developers to quickly create small applications that let disparate applications communicate with each other. They're also useful to those of us developing for the Qpid project, as they let us quickly write system tests that are sharable across all languages. He also contracts AMQP to XMPP.
