(2006-12-18) Oreilly Book Search Competition

Tim OReilly on the competition in the Book Search space. Each Search Engine does its own scanning (even when electronic copy exists), and doesn't share the content with the others.

You can't even know in advance which engine has a given book.

  • Hmm, I wonder whether you can build a Meta Data catalog of each set of contents.

    • I wonder whether any of them have a catalog of newly-added items (how about an RSS feed?)...
  • Or it's time to have a Meta Search site.

Personally, I'm more irritated by the clunky pictures-of-pages interface.
