(2007-09-06) Bus Taxi Hell

The School Bus never showed (at least not within 20min of its scheduled time) today.

We discovered the Taxi strike is today. Which means there are lots of taxis, they're just charging Black Market rates. The guy we talked to wanted to charge $10/person for a 10min ride (usually costs $8 total with tip).

(Luckily, another parent waiting had an AutoMobile in a local Parking lot, so he gave us a lift. Resilience, baby.)

Sept14 update:

• the Thursday no-show was due to bus having accident before it reached us.

• the Friday no-show was because they cancelled the route! Then by end-Friday they created a new route hitting the same stop at a different time.

• we're the last stop on that route before getting to the school itself. Each route serves only a single school (since it's hard to get to multiple end-points in a reasonable window, with all the schools starting at the same time). I've never seen more than 4 kids on the bus. Can it last?

Oct2 update: they've merged some lines, so there are other kids on the bus. Same stop, but 15min earlier.
