(2009-02-02) Zed Project Failure Mismatch
Zed Shaw has a decent model for recognizing/avoiding high-ProjectFailure-risk situations. In reality, I don't use XP or CMM but end up using Scrum most of the time because nobody has perfect little projects that fit neatly into Collaborator+Invention or Customer+Implementation sweet spots... the real reason I prefer Scrum is it's a great methodology for projects that you might have to kill off early due to risk. Because Scrum has a simple but easy tracking method for project progress and these measurements are done incrementally you get a very good idea of whether the project is gonna be completed on time. Note this is about delivering projects for clients, as opposed to Shrink Wrap situations.
