(2009-09-10) Redi Shades

For Barrington Il home, we weren't ready to buy Window Shade-s yet (esp once we decided to probably replace the windows). But didn't feel like giving away peep-show to neighbors. Jihi heard about Redi Shade-s from people (Like a Post It for your window! Just peel off a role, stick on your window!)

  • They cost $5 each. You can remove them and then re-stick them, but probably not too many times.

  • Our carpenter warned us that he'd heard of people having paint peeled off when removing, so you should stick them right to the glass or a metal screen-frame or something.

  • Home Depot won't custom-cut them for you, so I had to do it at home. Now I see something like a hand-saw being used, but I don't have one of those anyway. The picture I saw at the time used a regular small box-cutter utility knife. I tried that and found it extremely slow-going. So I figured out HowTo mark the side-edges of each piece then just use a scissors. FlickR:Redi Shade.
