(2009-10-07) Dehumidifier
We have an Aprilaire humidity-control system integrated into the house HVAC system. (Which probably needs servicing, like everything else.)
But that's not going to do much for the finished Basement (even though the basement is tied into the ground-floor HVAC control zone). So bought a Frigidaire/Electrolux dehumidifier (model FDF70S1) which is supposed to be able to suck 70 pints-per-day of water out of the air, and has a tank with a 17-pint capacity (hmm, so at max need/effectiveness you need to empty it every 4hrs?).
- the meter says the current humidity is 65% (Wed 10:15am), but that might just be the max-reading (update: nope, that's not max). You're supposed to leave the unit in "continuous" mode for the first few days of operation. We'll see what happens.
- Wed 7pm: humidity down to 50%
- Thurs pm: unit had stopped because bucket was full, but I didn't notice.
- Fri am: noticed unit had stopped. Emptied bucket. Humidity is at 70%, but it's raining outside.
