(2009-10-22) Flu Shot Maze

I want to get Flu Vaccine-s, both seasonal and Swine Flu (H1N1), for myself and The Kids.

All the local pharmacists have had signs up about giving seasonal vaccines, so I had planned on that. I would have done it sooner, but the kids had such bad colds for a couple weeks that I wanted to wait.

Today The Boys had no school, so I decided to get it done.

All the pharmacies have run out! And it sounds like many of them aren't re-ordering, for some reason.

One pharmacy nearby just got a new stock in, but won't do Number Three because she's under 9.

And it turns out that everyone says that Number One Son should wait until his 10-days of Augmentin (for Ear Infection) have been finished.

I called the county, and found out

• they have a schedule of giving out H1N1 vaccines

• but it's only for high-risk people at first

• and they haven't received their shipments yet, so everything's a mess

• pharmacies will also be giving H1N1 vaccines, but they'll get their supplies even later.

• they also have a system for seasonal flu vaccines, but that's a totally separate system. And I think she said they're out of that now too.

Oct23: called local pediatrician, they're out to, expecting re-stock at end of October.
