(2009-11-18) Penny Wash Lemon Finger Battery Project
Number Two Son has to perform an "experiment" in class. He chose to make a battery with pennies, zinc washers, lemon juice, paper towels, and his fingers. You're supposed to feel a "tingle" in your fingers when you hold. No tingle.
-
this other page (which uses salt-water instead of lemon-juice) says to make sure the corners of paper towel aren't touching each other. So we re-cut towels to make them a bit smaller/rounder
-
the original page says making sure that the finger is touching metal, not paper towel. So we tried to pay attention to that.
Checked with a multi-meter, needle didn't budget.
Ideas?
Update: weird, I just noticed that our experiment puts paper between each individual piece of metal, while the salt-water version only puts them between each pair of metal pieces. Maybe try that?
