(2010-11-16) 37signals Mobile Web Framework

Thirty7 Signals is working on a WebApp Framework for Mobile devices, using HTML-5. The code will be comprised of local JavaScript, with the network just being used for data. The apps will work Off-Line, when live data transfer isn’t required. Sam Stephenson adds in the comments: Hey folks, there's nothing to see here right now. We spent three weeks experimenting with some new tech to see what we could build, and ended up with something that looks a bit like Ruby On Rails, but entirely client-side and written in Coffee Script. The project driving the framework—an HTML5 mobile UI for BaseCamp—has been on hold for about a month now, and we're still a ways off from having anything to show. It just isn't a priority for us right now. When (or if) we do have something we'll be sure to post about it on our blog. It sounds like it might be mainly about having client-side Template Language talking to a CRUD-based API...

Whoops, this is kinda redundant to 2010-11-08-37signalsHtml5FrameworkCoffeeScriptEco

Here are some design things they've found comparing WebKit browsers (IPhone and Android).

Feb'2011 update: is this the same as their Cinco framework for One Page App-s, which they just said they'll Open Source?

  • Jason Fried says We're no longer developing Cinco so it's unlikely it'll be released.
