(2010-12-04) Paypal Mastercard Visa Blocks Wikileaks

PayPal cut access (donations) today to the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks.org for violating its Acceptable Use policy. How ironic that something that started as an DigiCash concept of P2P Money would take this position.

  • Dec08 update: PayPal VP says they blocked them because of a letter the US-gov sent to WikiLeaks saying they were breaking the law.

Master Card and Visa (Credit Card-s) also blocked WikiLeaks. Jeff Jarvis notes: I can use Visa and Mastercard to pay for porn and support anti-abortion fanatics, Prop 8 homophobic bigots, and the Ku Klux Klan. But I can’t use them or PayPal to support Wikileaks, transparency, the First Amendment, and true government reform.

Could this have anything to do with Julian Assange recently saying they'd be exposing a large US bank soon?

Dec08 update: they've been attacked by hackers.
